V is for Victory is the twenty-second episode of season 2, and the forty-eighth episode overall of the TV series.

Plot[]

Will made a deal with Prince Phobos, since only the heir to the Meridian throne can claim its Heart, which is within the Seal of Nerissa. In exchange for freedom, he was obliged to return the Heart.

Phobos swore an oath on the power of Kandrakar that he would not use the power of the seal for himself. Irma discovered a way to free Cassidy, Halinor, Kadma, and Yan Lin's Altermere form from Nerissa's control. Cassidy was able to actually break free of the mind control during the battle. In turn, Nerissa absorbed the old Guardians into her seal, gaining total elemental control. Nerissa eventually ran away scared after Phobos nearly took her seal.

In the B-story, Will's main opponent at the swimming competition was Mandy Anderson, who just happened to be "a really old friend" of Matts!

Release notes[]

  • This episode aired after W is for Witch, causing confusion for some viewers.

Behind the scenes[]

Trivia[]

  • Every second-season episode has a clear focus on one of the five main characters. This episode is one of 9 in the season to focus on Will Vandom.
  • As of this episode, the members of C.H.Y.K.N. (apart from Nerissa) were unenthralled, but Nerissa now had access to their powers via her seal making her a Quinto-Guardian of sorts.
  • The titular character from Sailor Moon made a cameo appearance in the school hallway. This is the second episode to have a Sailor Moon cameo, after R is for Relentless.
  • Nerissa made a possible allusion to the band The Rolling Stones.
  • This is one of the few episodes where a Guardian uses her powers for personal gain. Will uses a combination of electrokinesis and quintessence in order to win her second race against Mandy Anderson.
