The Underwater Mines is the nineteenth episode of season 1 of the TV series.

Plot[]

Phobos used the knowledge of Caleb's father's being alive to lure him and the Guardians to the Underwater Mines for an ambush. Fortunately, Hay Lin heard the guards whisperings, which allowed the group unimpeded access to the mines. However, the element of surprise was soon lost and the group went on the move.

Cedric flooded the mine and sent the group plus Caleb's dad on a mine cart ride to the main shaft. Once there, they used the guardroom to float to the surface and came face to lizard-face with Cedric and a platoon of guards.

Cedric tried to go after Caleb and the miners stranded in the remains of the guardroom, but Irma and Hay Lin cooled Cedric out with a flash-frozen bubble. Phobos was sitting pretty in his castle, thinking that he had taken care of the major thorns in his side until the girls showed up with the last laugh in his scrying pool.

In the B-story, W.I.T.C.H, Caleb and Blunk tried to open the Book of Secrets.

Comics connections[]

  • Caleb is revealed to have a human father, which differs from in the comic books where Caleb is a rebel murmurer conjured up by Prince Phobos.
  • The crown Aketon tailored for Elyon greatly resembles the Crown of Light from the comics.
  • The scene where Irma created a large water bubble to cross the portal is similar to one shown in comic issue 4.
