Napoleon is a normal black cat in the comics, given as present from Will Vandom to Cornelia.

In the TV series, due to Lilian Hale's wish, he gained the ability to talk and became one of the Regents of Earth.

Plot[]

Comics[]

When Caleb transformed to a flower, Will gave Napoleon to Cornelia, but Cornelia didn't warm up to him and gave him to her little sister instead.[1] At first, Cornelia hated him for attacking flower Caleb, but then she discovered it was actually to protect it from a crow, and she warmed up to him.[2]

TV series[]

Originally, Will bought him from Matt's grandfather's pet store as a present for Cornelia Hale to help her to try and get over her heartbreak over Caleb. Cornelia, disliking the gift, gave Napoleon to Lilian.[3]

Lilian wished that Napoleon could talk. Due to her powers as the Heart of Earth, Napoleon gained the ability as her familiar.[4]

Later, Lilian knighted Napoleon, along with Mr. Huggles and Matt Olsen, and became a Regent of Earth.[4]

On Halloween, it is possible to steal the power of the Heart of Earth by killing the Heart's familiar. This made Napoleon a target for Nerissa, though with help from W.I.T.C.H., he managed to escape her.[5]

Napoleon and the other Regents of Earth created a glamor zone to disguise the Guardians' fight with Cedric.[6]

Napoleon in his enhanced form

In the TV series, initially Napoleon was a normal cat but upon Lilian unlocking her abilities as the Heart of Earth, she granted him the ability to talk to humans. When Lilian subsequently chose him as one of the Regents of Earth, he gained further abilities. Napoleon's primary ability was to transform into a panther-like form (though he retained most of his facial structure). This form possessed enhanced strength and sharp claws which he used to easily best members of C.H.Y.K.N.[7] Napoleon, in combination with the other regents, also had the ability to great a giant Glamour Zone and levitate.[citation needed] Furthermore, it is reasonable to assume that the regents have some degree of reality-warping abilities as that is Lilian's primary power.
